QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO ASK
It’s just as important for you to ask questions at an interview as it is the parents.
We have put together a few questions you may want to ask when you are attending interviews.
- Have you ever employed a nanny before?
- Are you happy for me to entertain your child/ren outside the home? (Going to the parks, local mother and toddler groups, swimming, music groups)
- Does your child/ren have a set routine? If no, is this something you want me to help you do?
- Are you happy for the child/ren to fall asleep in the push chair or do you like them only sleeping in their bed?
- Are you happy for us to be creative in the home? (Painting, sticking, drawing)
- Are you happy for us to meet other nannies and invite friends over to the house for play dates?
- If activities are in our daily routine, how will this be paid for?
- Do you want me to do the food shop for the family?
- What nursery duties are involved?
- Does your child/ren have any allergies?
- Do you have a communication diary you want me to fill in? (If they don’t suggest this as a good way of keeping in touch together)
Make sure you know all about the job you are being interviewed for. Some of these questions are not relevant for all jobs.
Nannies Today will have already interviewed your prospective family extensively but it is useful for you to ask your own questions so that you get a feel for the job and its requirements.
