Here are a few tips to help your Nanny stay happy in her role and settle into your Family home as quickly as possible.

> Good communication : get a diary so if you don’t have time to talk in the morning you can always write things down, this is a good way to communicate in a busy house hold and can also be used to write down what the children do in their day and what meals the children have eaten.

> Weekly Chats : if you are busy try and make time at least once a week to sit down with them and talk about their week, ask if they have any concerns or worries about the children or their role as their nanny.

> Thank-you goes a long way, at the end of your day thank them and they will feel appreciated.

> Agree Duties and Hours on the first day and if for any reason you are late, tell them, a phone call to be told you are stuck in traffic or in the office goes a long way and if overtime has been agreed, don’t forget to pay them.

> Relevant Phone Numbers : make sure before you leave on your first morning the nanny has all the relevant telephone numbers, your work number, your mobile, doctors, dentist, hospital, children's school and name of teacher and police station.

> Kitty Money : set out an agreed amount that is in the “kitty” and what it’s for.

> Helpful Information : write down any information you feel will be important about the children's day, routine, foods they like and dislike, allergies.

> Socialising : introduce them to any other nannies in the area that the children already socialise with and give them as much information about the different activities that are in the area for children.
